What Is the Grant-Ready Intensive?

Most small business owners don't know that grants exist for them — or where to find them, how to apply, or what funders are really looking for. The Grant-Ready Intensive changes that in one day.

This is a hands-on virtual workshop where you won't just learn about grants — you'll actually complete and submit one before you log off. No templates to finish later. No homework. You leave ready.

Learn it. Write it. Submit it. — All in one day.

Who This Is For

Grant-Ready is designed exclusively for small business owners — including sole proprietors, LLCs, partnerships, and early-stage startups. This is not a nonprofit training.

If you lead or work for a nonprofit organization, our nonprofit-specific grant writing workshops are available separately. This intensive is built around the grant landscape for for-profit businesses, and every example, resource, and application completed during the session will reflect that focus.

What You'll Build

Your Common Grant Application (CGA)

A Common Grant Application is a master document that captures all of the essential information about your business in one place — your business description, mission, leadership, financials, target market, and more. Think of it as your business's grant resume.

Because many grant applications ask for the same core information, having a completed CGA means you are never starting from scratch. You simply draw from it each time you apply, saving significant time and effort with every future submission.

A Live Grant Submission

A live grant submission is different — it is an actual application submitted directly to a specific funder during the intensive.

On the day of Grant-Ready, you will do both. In the morning and early afternoon, you will build your CGA with guided instruction. Then, using the information from your completed CGA, you will identify a grant opportunity that matches your business and submit a real application before the session ends.

You leave with two powerful tools: a reusable foundation for all future grant applications, and proof that you have already used it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior grant writing experience?

No experience is necessary. Grant-Ready is designed to meet you exactly where you are. Whether you've never written a grant application or have attempted one before without success, this intensive walks you through the entire process from the beginning. Everything is in plain language, step by step, with real-time support throughout the day.

What do I need to bring or prepare?

Come prepared with: your Articles of Organization or Incorporation, your Employer Identification Number (EIN), your business address and contact information, your social media handles and website URL (if applicable), and a 2–3 sentence description of what your business does and who it serves.

Which grant will I be submitting?

During the Grant Identification Lab, you'll build a personalized list of 8–10 grant opportunities matched to your specific business type, industry, and location. The grant you submit will be one of three grants pre-selected by Cheryl and team, based on everyone's eligibility and readiness.

Is there a guarantee I'll receive a grant?

No — and any training that promises guaranteed funding should be approached with caution. What Grant-Ready does guarantee is that you will leave with a completed, submitted grant application and a reusable Common Grant Application that can be adapted for every future opportunity.

What if I can't complete my application before the end?

The day is structured to give every participant sufficient time to complete their application with guided support. Participants who register for the Premium tier have the added advantage of Sunday coaching, where any remaining questions or incomplete sections can be addressed with direct instructor support.

What platform will we use?

Grant-Ready is hosted on Zoom. We recommend joining from a laptop or desktop computer rather than a phone, as you will be working on documents throughout the day. A stable internet connection is strongly advised.

Ready to Become Grant-Ready?

In today's economy, every dollar you spend needs to work hard for you. Grant-Ready is not a lecture — it is a working session facilitated by Cheryl Smith, CEO & Founder of Dewlyn Nonprofit Services, in partnership with Greater Wealth Works.

You will arrive as a business owner. You will leave as a grant applicant — with a completed Common Grant Application, a real application submitted, and 8–10 funding opportunities in hand.

That is an investment with a return that can follow your business for years.
